Concrete Contractors for Bridgeport Homes and Businesses

We pour, level and repair concrete and build brick, block and stone masonry: driveways, patios, slabs, sidewalks and retaining walls, each one over a base that drains and quoted in full before we start.

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. Outside those hours, leave a message and we call back the next working morning.

  • Licensed and insured
  • No-obligation estimates
  • We clean up when the work is done

What we pour and build

Concrete and Masonry Services

The work runs from sealing one crack to pouring a whole driveway: concrete repair, leveling and resurfacing, new driveways, patios, slabs and sidewalks, stamped concrete, pavers, retaining walls, and brick, block and stone masonry.

  • Repair mortar being pressed into a spalled concrete step edge with a trowel

    Concrete Repair

Cracks get sealed and spalled or broken concrete gets rebuilt, and the repair starts by finding what caused the damage so it does not come back.

  • Mason buttering a concrete block with mortar on a rising wall

    Masonry Contractors

Brick, block and stone walls, steps and chimneys, built new or rebuilt where the old ones have failed.

  • Foam injection gun seated in a drilled port in a sunken walkway slab

    Concrete Leveling

A sunken slab is lifted back level through small drilled holes with foam injected underneath, often for about half the cost of replacing it.

    concrete leveling
  • Finished broom-finished concrete driveway with control joints up to a garage

    Concrete Driveway Contractors

A new driveway is reinforced concrete poured over a compacted gravel base that drains, so it carries the cars and sheds the water.

  • Concrete pavers being set on a sand bed with a rubber mallet

    Paver Installation

Pavers go down as soon as they arrive with no curing wait, and a damaged paver costs less to repair than a poured slab.

    paver installation
  • Segmental block retaining wall under construction with drainage gravel and pipe behind it

    Retaining Wall Contractors

A retaining wall holds back soil, and it gets drainage behind it, because water trapped behind a wall weakens it until it collapses.

  • New broom-finished concrete patio behind a house

    Concrete Patio Contractors

A new patio is planned around its footprint marked on the ground and anything heavy it will carry, a hot tub, outdoor kitchen or pergola, before the pour.

    concrete patio contractors
  • Cement overlay being spread with a squeegee over an old pitted slab

    Concrete Resurfacing

A worn but sound slab gets a bonded cement "overlay", finished and sealed, instead of a tear-out.

    concrete resurfacing
  • Stamping mat being tamped into fresh colored concrete

    Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete takes the look of stone, brick or slate for less than the natural material costs.

    stamped concrete
  • Mason setting a natural fieldstone into a mortared wall

    Stone Mason

Natural stone walls, steps and veneer set by hand, and old stonework repointed where the mortar has gone.

    stone mason
  • Rebar grid on chairs over a gravel base inside garage slab forms

    Concrete Slab Contractors

Garage, shed and addition slabs are poured to the right depth with a drainage slope, rebar and a smooth trowel finish.

  • New concrete sidewalk panel set flush between two weathered panels

    Sidewalk Repair

Offset panels are ground, lifted or replaced to clear the trip hazard, since a lip of more than about half an inch is a real one.

Who you are calling

Concrete Contractors in Bridgeport

We are AS Contractor, a concrete contractor based here in the city, pouring and repairing concrete for the homes in it and in the towns around it.

The job starts with a free, no-obligation estimate on your property, not a number guessed over the phone. From there we show up when we say we will, quote the whole job before we start with no surprise charges after, and clean up when the work is done. The masonry side covers brick, block and stone, so a cracked wall, a set of steps and a new driveway are one call. Most of what we do is residential, and a commercial job is a question for the call.

From the call to the cure

How a Concrete Job Runs

Every job we take runs the same way, from the first walk of the site to the day the slab is ready to use.

  1. The on-site estimate

We walk the site with you, measure the area, note the design you want from it and check for obstructions, soil conditions and where the water goes before anything is priced.

  2. The written quote

You get the whole job on paper, with the materials, the labor, the schedule and the what-ifs, and the figure does not move once we start.

  3. Base preparation

Old concrete comes out where it has to, the "base course", the compacted gravel layer under the slab, goes in, and the forms and reinforcement go on top of it.

  4. The pour and the finish

The concrete goes down, gets screeded and floated, and takes its finish: a broom finish for traction outdoors, a smooth trowel in a garage, a stamp where you chose one. Joints are cut where the slab needs them.

  5. The cure and the clean-up

The slab cures before it takes any traffic, since base preparation and curing time are what separate professional work from amateur work, and we leave the site clean. The placing, finishing and curing guides of the American Concrete Institute are what the trade works to.

Before you hire anyone

Hiring a Concrete Contractor

  • Written estimateMaterials, labor, schedule and contingencies, all on paper before the work starts.
  • ScheduleA start date and how long the job takes, with the days the concrete cures counted in.
  • LicenseThe license the work requires, and the permit where the job needs one, since work on a public sidewalk is permitted by the city.
  • InsuranceCover for damage to the property, to the crew and to their materials, so none of it lands on you.
  • Site evaluationTraffic, drainage, soil conditions and layout weighed before a solution is recommended, not after.

What Concrete Work Costs

The price of concrete work depends on removal, access, thickness, reinforcement, joints, drainage, finish and cure time, so a figure quoted before we have seen the site is a guess.

Each service page gives the typical range for that kind of job. The exact price for yours comes from the on-site estimate and the written quote, and the estimate costs you nothing.

The whole job is quoted before we start, with no surprise charges after.

What moves the price

  • RemovalTear-out follows the volume of old concrete coming out, not its surface area.
  • AccessHow close the truck can get and how far the concrete is carried from the chute.
  • Thickness and reinforcementA thicker slab carries more load and uses more material, and rebar or mesh is priced with it.
  • Joints and drainageControl joints, an isolation joint at the house and the slope that carries water away.
  • FinishA plain broom finish costs less than stamped concrete with several colors and patterns.
  • Small poursA pour smaller than the truck's minimum load pays a "short-load charge", so small repairs are best done alongside other work.
